Vanilla extract is an essential ingredient used in desserts and ice creams. Seed fragments were causing product quality problems and affecting the visual clarity of the final product.
Filtration is a critical control point in many bottling processes and the last opportunity to capture any particles before they make their way into the final product. Filtration is key during the bottling process of vanilla extract, separating the seeds from the liquid vanilla extract to create a seedless extract.

Siga Filtration was selected to supply a food grade filtration solution to capture fines which had proven to be difficult to remove with their existing filtration setup.
We supplied our food grade STERALine PBT Cartridge Filter Housing with absolute rated FINEPleat filter elements to provide high efficiency removal of fine particulates. STERALine PBT filter housings have been designed for the food & beverage industry. These filter vessels come with an internal finish of Ra<0.8 micron, hygienic inlet/outlet connections and take single open end filter elements to provide bypass free filtration.
In addition, all materials used in the construction of STERALine PBT housings and FINEPleat elements are suitable for food contact and carry certifications to support the selection. These housings are available in both single and multi-cartridge configurations, making them suitable filtration systems for small and large scale applications.
FINEPleat PP is an absolute rated filter cartridge for applications requiring precise removal of particles. FINEPleat PP Filter Cartridges can filter particles as small as 0.2 microns.
