Sappi is a global diversified woodfibre company focused on providing dissolving pulp, packaging and speciality papers, graphic papers, as well as biomaterials and biochemicals.
We were approached by SAPPI to filter their aqueous PVDC dispersion which is a water based coating used in packaging of drugs, foods and cosmetics to increase shelf life due to its excellent moisture and gas barrier properties. In order to ensure a good coating the solution must be free of any contaminants. PVDC dispersions can form skin, coagulate when exposed to air and collect particulates during tanks transfers, mixing and handling.
Siga Filtration offered ALSI bag filter housings with our acuraBag filter bags to filter out contaminants.
This filter was installed after the process pump and before the coating entered the process to ensure a contaminant free solution prior to application. ALSI bag filter housings were supplied with acuraBag felt type filter bags to provide better retention of deformable particles (skin, coagulates).
These filters provide a compact solution for the removal of coarse and fine particulates from products and raw materials. When installed on tanker lines to filter raw materials at the point of entry, these filters protect downstream tanks and equipment from impurities entering the process. These filters can also provide an early indication of the quality of raw materials. We can also supply these filters to food grade specifications for use in the food & beverage industry.
Siga Filtration offers filtration solutions for applications in process, water, food, electronics and pharmaceutical industry.
